IMing

IMing is easy or even easier than email. In a school library where I work, it would be difficult to use for my patrons, i.e., students and teachers. The elementary students cannot keyboard and the teachers are teaching! I can see that it would work with my principal or the school secretary but we do have an email system that we use now. I'll have to see if I can think of other applications in a school setting...

Lifelong Learning

Lifelong learning was a new phrase to me several decades ago starting as a media specialist.
Then it became almost trite; almost, because I don't want it to be trite! As I have finished all but one college course on the salary scale, and am closer to retirement than I am to being a new media specialist, I realize how important lifelong learning has been in my life. It seems I am happiest when I am learning something; it used to be a college class or going to a conference but now even reading the latest professional magazine or trying out this 23 Things, I know that it doesn't matter the format but that I am still learning, have been my whole life, and can't foresee that I will ever stop.
